Captain Margaret Pommert is a certified Boating Safety Instructor for the National Safe Boating Council. She is Vice President for Safety at Sea for The Sailing Foundation, and organizer of their US Sailing International Offshore Safety at Sea hands-on training programs in the Pacific Northwest. She has debriefed many ‘man overboard’ survivors, written “What Overboard Survivors Want You to Know” and taught 100’s of boaters to use the Lifesling overboard rescue system. She chairs US Sailing’s national Arthur B. Hanson Rescue Medal selection and awards committee for lifesaving at sea. Margaret is an advanced cruising instructor certified by both American Sailing Association and US Sailing. She is also a US Powerboating and Recreational Powerboating Association certified powerboat cruising instructor. Based in Seattle, Margaret holds a 100-ton US Coast Guard master captain’s license.
