Kevin retired from the public service in 2012, and now works part time as the, publisher of Ports and Passes, the Pacific Northwest Tide and Current Guide. He also gives seminars on nautical and northwest subjects, and teaches part time at Western Maritime Institute in Ladysmith, BC.

Modern navigation electronics have amazing capabilities, but once integrated with other equipment, the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. Captain Monahan explains the basics of modern radar equipment, how radar works with other navigation sensors and the advantages and disadvantages of integration.
